Your DMV notice says STAR. That’s us.
If the DMV directed your vehicle to a STAR-certified smog station, you can do it right here on Magnolia Ave — no second trip, no hunting for a different shop. STAR-directed vehicles are $39.75 plus $5.
STAR certified
A higher standard the Bureau of Automotive Repair holds certain stations to. The DMV sends some vehicles to a STAR station specifically — only a STAR station can test those.
Test-only, too
Separate from STAR, and it matters: we test but do not do repairs. There is no upsell and no reason for us to fail you, because we do not profit from the fix.
Sent to the DMV
Pass and your certificate is transmitted electronically. Nothing to mail, nothing to drop off, and we can renew your registration at the same counter.
STAR-directed questions.
Why was my car directed to STAR?
California runs a statewide model that flags a share of vehicles each cycle based on make, model, year and history. It is not an accusation that something is wrong with your car.
Can I go anywhere else?
Not if the notice says STAR-certified. A regular smog station cannot complete a STAR-directed test, and the DMV will not accept the certificate.
What does it cost?
$39.75 plus the $5 STAR-directed surcharge, then the $8.25 state certificate only if you pass. Full price list →
